Existing Foundation Load Study

Design Management:

The design team communicates with the management team through a pre-set Calculation-pack register, agreed upon with Building Control at the start of Stage 3. These Calculation-packs are design packages compiled into single PDF documents, each with a unique ID. The quality control team regularly reviews these documents. After several iterations, the pack is internally approved and submitted to Building Control. E.M. believes that the design split is crucial to project success and should align with the structural modelling strategy. The design split is project-specific and must be collectively agreed upon by the team from the outset. The packages should be of a manageable size, guiding the allocation and control of specialized resources.

Quality control Plan:

E.M. has evolved a pre-set schedule of rules and project controls, specific for Stages 3 and 4. The set of controls extend through both Drawings and documentation, ensuring that all data across the project documents is consistent and there is no contradictory or superfluous information. Rules also allow for human error identification. E.M. has refined this process through years of practical application and extensive discussions with peers.

Budget management and Design Cost control:

Financial success is crucial for maintaining proper project resourcing and protecting profits. E.M. uses Agresso data to compare forecasted costs with actual costs and real profit monthly. Accurate invoicing and detailed identification and reporting of scope deviations and change control are essential. This information must be promptly communicated to the client and documented in the project file. Internal audits with directors are conducted to collectively identify procurement issues. If necessary, the project plan can be revisited, and production optimized.

Construction:

Engineers must navigate various challenges during construction while maintaining the project's essence and principles. Engineer's attention is required to manage changes and adjustments effectively. A long-term vision and early issue identification are crucial for successful engineering, as they can prevent abortive work on-site and reduce costs. Recording site activities is a key component of communication protocols. Proper documentation is vital for coordinating with different project teams and will serve as a valuable resource for future maintenance, refurbishment, and the building's lifecycle, including demolition and material recycling.
