Role: Senior Engineer

01 – Technical Expertise

I had extensive involvement in this project as a senior engineer, spanning from Stage 2 to Completion. My role included not only validating the existing structure but also designing the various side extensions.

My relationship with T.P. Bennett Architects began on this project and has continued to this day.

The investigations I conducted on the historical record drawings added significant value. They led to the discovery of a large, two-storey-high historical retaining wall supporting Salisbury Square.

Site investigations confirmed that this wall was still functioning as the retaining system for the present building. This information was crucial for understanding the construction principles of the basement system and the building being refurbished.

02 – Leadership and Management Skills

The relationship with T.P. Bennett, the architect, and with Greycoat, the client, was smooth and positive. We also monitored the design and build contract with BAM.

This was the first project where I began managing people at Waterman. I was responsible for managing two engineers and one Revit technician.

03 – Communication and Stakeholder Management

I managed all interfaces with the client, local authorities, building control, BAM contractor, and architects.

05 – Personal Qualities

This was one of the first projects I was allowed to manage independently, with a small team to support me. Despite challenges related to communication and language, I believe I managed the project very effectively and successfully brought it to completion. The client has since continued to engage Waterman for several subsequent projects.
